Biographie: Marie-Hélène Roux is a French director and screenwriter, born in Gabon and raised across several African countries and France. Trained at the Conservatoire and the Stella Adler Academy of Acting in Los Angeles, she began her career in American independent cinema before returning to France to direct her first film. Her debut short, A DEPORTED LIFE (2012), starred Marie Bunel and Françoise Bertin. In 2014, she wrote and directed SHORTAGE OF CHILDREN, the first narrative film inspired by the "Réunionnais de la Creuse." The film received numerous international awards, was included in a UNESCO program, and benefited from an exceptional theatrical release. In 2015, she directed LINKS OF LIFE, an English-language film shot in Utah and represented by Picture Tree International. Her latest film, M  (voir tout) UGANGA - The One Who Treats, inspired by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Denis Mukwege, will be released in fall 2025. She is working on several projects, including the original series THE CHEVALIERS (co-written with Coline Stell), KELLY FAUSTER IS A KILLER (co-written with Xavier Marquis, MIA 2022), and PARENTHESIS OF A SMILE (DreamAgo/Plume et Pellicule selection).
